08 WALK Kids Climb and Conquer a Mountain with Ellis Peters

Come and climb a mountain, Mynydd Troed, with us. A steady ascent on tracks to the top with fantastic views to Llangorse Lake and beyond. Enjoy a picnic and then fire a stomp rocket (provided, a children’s toy, no fire involved), and launch a mini glider. Parents/adults must be responsible for their own children at all times. There are rocky outcrops and some steep sections but nothing too scary. bring along a picnic, drink and any other items for a trip in the hills.

There are no toilets on the walk. Please wear suitable warm and waterproof outdoor gear and footwear with good grip.

Nordic walking is just walking, enhanced by the use of special walking poles to propel you forward. When you use 90% of your body muscle, you can go faster, with seemingly less effort or walk uphill and talk! Physiotherapist and nordic walking instructor, Heather Maling, will teach the basic technique, lead a walk on Rhos Fach Common and talk about the landscape and features on the route. 12 FILM “Eagle Huntress”

The Eagle Huntress follows the story of Aisholpan, a 13-year-old Kazakh girl from Mongolia, as she attempts to become the first female eagle hunter to compete in the eagle festival at Ulgii, Mongolia, established in 1999. She belongs to a family of nomads that spend their summers in a yurt in the Altai Mountains and their winters in a house in town. The men in her family have been eagle hunters for seven generations, and she wants to follow in their footsteps.
