2024 Talgarth Walking Festival - Walks Programme

Our 2024 Walks Programme is now LIVE!

Please enjoy our adopted song while you are browsing our walks and events.
Please also find a downloadable TWF2024 Walks Leaflet in PDF format here.

Walks Grading System

  • 1 Boot - Easy

Low level routes without any steep climbs, taken at a relaxed pace. Shoes or boots with grip on the soles should be worn.

  • 2 Boot - Moderate

Walks may have some short sections of steep ground, but if there are, they will be taken at a relaxed pace. The routes may be on open hill.

  • 3 Boot - Energetic

Walks generally involve one or two steep climbs. These walks are suitable for those who can manage distances but not too many ascents/descents.

  • 4 Boot - Strenuous

Walks require fitness and stamina to cover steep climbs on the open hills and will cover a long distance at a steady pace.

Before booking, please do take note of our Walks’ Terms & Conditions and Safety Information, here. In particular, our refund policy is generally not to offer refunds except in exceptional circumstances, and, due to it being lambing season, dogs are not allowed on any walks.

Also, to respect the environment, we encourage adoption of the Hike Up, Pick Up scheme.

** Friday Evening Talk Event **

We will warmly welcome Ben Rawlence, BMC co-founder and CEO, who will talk on:

‘Black Mountains College - Preparing for the Future: What a Place Can Teach You.’

Ben is an award-winning writer, activist, and former speech writer to Sir Menzies Campbell and Charles Kennedy. He was a researcher for Human Rights Watch’s Africa division, worked for the Social Science Research Council in the USA, the Liberal Democrats in the UK and the Civic United Front in Tanzania.

Read more about Ben’s latest book, ‘The Treeline’.

The evening event free of charge, open to all, and in particular we welcome all Talgarth residents who might enjoy this chance to hear what we are sure will be a fascinating and educating talk about the Black Mountains College. A pay bar will be available. The event is offered on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to around 100 guests.

We are delighted to announce the return of our popular Friday evening event, taking place at
7pm on Friday May 3rd 2024, in Talgarth Town Hall.
